Catalonia is a lovely autonomous region of Spain, with countryside ranging from the High Pyrenees to the lower mountains and spectacular coastal walks. It has its own distinctive language, culture, countryside, wine, cuisine and a spectactular and vibrant capital, Barcelona.
Walking or cycling tours of a day to two weeks can be organized. They may take in some of the beautiful mountains of the Pyrenees, including the National Park Aigües Tortes and San Mauricio, or they could be more relaxed walks along the valleys and small hills of the rocky, pictuaresque coast or rural La Garrotxa, a distinctive green area dotted with small inactive volcanoes. Other possibilities could be walking over the Cap de Creus or to the spectacular monastery of St Pere de Rodes. Tours can start and end with pick ups in Barcelona or Girona and cultural tours including those cities can be added. Also consider visiting the Dali Museum at Figueres and Dali’s home in Cadaques.
